Do you think it’s wrong for someone to say “I wanted a girl” or “I wanted a boy” at their gender reveal ?

I said yes, but I also think gender reveals are silly to begin with. I think it’s especially silly to bring a bunch of people together to find out the gender if you’re going or be disappointed if your 50/50 chance doesn’t go the way you want. That’s not a knock against anyone experience gender disappointment (unless they’re being jerks or overly dramatic about it). We all have feelings. It’s cool. But don’t get a whole bunch of people together and make a big to-do if there’s a 50% chance they’re all just going to watch you be disappointed.

I have four sons. I love them with EVERY part of myself and would kill or die for them. 
That being said, I have been disappointed 3 times as I hoped for a girl. I had to come to terms with the gender disappointment 3 times. It’s not a great feeling, and hoping for one gender or another doesn’t make you sexist or anything. 
I grew up with two younger sisters. I can do all the girl things (nails, braids, etc—I practically raised my sisters), so I hoped to have at least one daughter. Now that I have all sons, I don’t know what I’d do with a girl. My sister has one, and I love hanging with her but I LOVE giving her back when she gets too sassy.

Here’s my take on it lol: say what you want before. There’s nothing wrong with saying ‘I hope it’s a girl’ or ‘I really want a boy this time’. But after the reveal, be happy with what you got. It’s final so there’s no point complaining and making your child feel unwanted in the future. 
Gender disappointment is so real and it’s okay if you feel a little sad about the result. But love your child regardless! As long as they feel loved and wanted there’s nothing wrong with hoping differently initially

Feelings are what they are. But somehow this is likely to get back to the baby years later (video, someone talking about it, etc). Think of how that kid may feel. Keep those feelings to yourself in public, imo.

I think it’s alright to say you were hoping for a boy or girl, but nothing more than that, like acting upset or pouting, that’s completely ridiculous.  YOU choose to have this baby, and it’s certainly not it’s fault what gender they are, you don’t get to pick, that’s life. All that matters is that baby is healthy. I think anyone who acts overly upset or disappointed isn’t ready to be a parent

No. I wanted a girl and found out our first was a boy. I would say it if someone said “oh I bet you guys are excited to have a boy” but I am absolutely in love with my son now. I’m almost 22 weeks now and it’s around the time he can start to hear from the womb and I feel like I would hurt his feelings if he heard me say I wanted him to be a girl 😂

No.  Just because you wanted the opposite gender or are disappointed doesmt mean you love your baby any less.  It just means you had a preference and didnt get it.    And as far as others saying it they are allowed to have a preference too.
