How to split the rent

My fiancé and I are looking for an apartment to move in together. I’m only paid about $1,300 biweekly whereas he makes $1,000 weekly. If our rent is $1,700 (including utilities), should we:

Option 1: Split it evenly.

Option 2: He should pay slightly more due to higher income.

Other: Whatever suggestion you ladies may have.

Obviously this is something that we’re going to work out together but I just wanted some general input. Would it be wrong of me to ask that he pay a little more than me? I work at a school so my hours are what they are, and my pay fluctuates due to school breaks and holidays. These are not things that I can change. I also work over the summer.
