Anybody Else?

Question

Anyone else a little upset at how few ultrasounds you actually get? I had one at 7w5d. I don’t have another one until I’m 19 weeks. Currently 11w3d and would love to see if everything looks fine. I do go tomorrow for the Doppler, but I’d love to see my baby especially since my morning/night sickness has vanished. I know it’s normal because a decrease in hormones, but still makes you worried a bit.

My daughter has a heart defect and I had ultrasounds at 18,24,28 and 36 weeks
This time I’ve had them at 9 and 11 weeks and my next one is at 20 weeks and because of my daughter having her heart defect I will have ultrasounds almost every two weeks again to make sure my son is okay 
If you really want more scans there maybe a private place near you that does them but you’ll have to pay out of pocket

No, I'm happy with just the regular two (dating and anatomy scans). ACOG recommends no more ultrasounds than medically necessary because we aren't exactly sure how the ultrasounds effect baby, so I'd only want extra if it were deemed necessary.

I think it depends on where you’re from and on your care provider and the pregnancy itself, as usually more ultrasounds is due to extra monitoring of the baby , at least that’s been my experience. I’ve had one at 6w one at 8w one next week at 12w for the nuchal translucency test and nipt blood test and then I go again at 19 weeks . But I have a subchorionic hematoma and have had some bleeding so they’re monitoring the size of the bleed and tracing that baby is still growing .

I remember feeling sad I didn't get to see my baby between 8 weeks and 20 weeks but then between 20 weeks and 26 weeks I had 6 ultrasounds because they thought there was something wrong with my babies heart and I was at a hospital every week. Trust me, I would much rather have had one at 20 weeks and been told everything was jolly and see you at the end. There are also providers who do ultrasounds for an extra cost outside the hospital or clinics. You could make an appointment with one of those if you want to see your baby between now now and 20 weeks.

Yes it was nerve wracking waiting, but thats pretty standard unless theres an issue
