Scalp “flakes” ?

Question

Does anyone else get white scalp stuff in their nails when they scratch their head? It feels like buildup or something. 
How can I get rid of it? I use head & shoulders every other day.

Its dandruff. You most likely have dry scalp so use a moisturizing conditioner on your hair and scalp. You also could just have the normal amount of skin flaking off. You could also have a build up. It really depends how thick the flakes are and how flakey they are if that makes sense. Like are they kinda a fluffy looking flake a dry flake, a wet flake etc. If its a wet looking flake or a soft flakeyness its probably build up of products, if its a dry flake its probobly dry scalp and needs a good moisturizer. Of if you cant tell ied start with a good moisturizer and see if it makes it better or worse. If it makes it better theres your answer.

I was getting buildup from hair products in general. I made the switch to sulfate free, silicone free, paraben free, etc. Your scalp and skin will thank you later!!

Head and shoulders suck . I get really bad dandruff sometimes and this is the only thing that’ll work for me. It’s medicated so you only need to use it like once a week or something like that . Works amazing. Used once or twice and dandruff was gone

It’s dry skin! That shampoo it’s actually drying you out more since it’s meant for dandruff. Dandruff is usually yellow, oily, scaley…. As opposed to dry skin which is usually more white and powdery. Try a scalp oil treatment, or a more moisturizing shampoo. Washing less can help too. I thought I had dandruff for the longest until my hair stylist corrected me on the common misconceptions of what dandruff is vs. what most people have which is a dry scalp.

I have to wash my hair less often, use a scalp scrubber when I do wash my hair, avoid conditioning my scalp and always rinse very thoroughly to keep buildup away. I use sulfate and paraben free products as well because it helps my eczema. My husband has seborrheic dermatitis and can get really flaky scalp if he doesn't use a scalp scrubber and dandruff shampoo along with moisturizing his face really religiously with hyaluronic acid so it doesn'tspread. Maybe see a dermatologist and they can help you dial in what you have.

I have psoriasis so a bit different. Switched to a tar based shampoo and lush shampoo bar and haven't looked back

I do I quit using head and shoulders and I switched to neutragena shampoo the pink bottle also using it’s conditioner as well I’ve felt my head feel soooo fresh afterwards
