Metformin - is it bad?

I have GD and I’ve been prescribed metformin slow release tablets starting with 500mg for the first two days and then going up to 1000mg. I’m so scared to take it because I’ve heard of the dreaded side effects and I have my baby shower on Saturday 😩 
Did anyone else start metformin this way? Did it help to reduce side effects?

I had the same concerns and asked my doctor if I could take insulin instead and they were happy for
me to do that. They said they normally offer metformin first because most people don’t want to inject themselves with insulin and prefer the metformin tablet. I was fine with injecting (not that it was a nice thing to do) as that’s what I felt was right for me 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think I did a week before increasing dosage. Can you ask your doc if that’s an option for you? Also eating really healthy can help reduce side effects.

I actually waited a week before upping my dosage! That is what my fertility specialist advised me to do when I started it in 2017 ￼￼

The tisks of not taking the metformin are much much worse and dangerous and life threatoning for the fetus and you. Take the medicin
