Periods at work

I recently had an incident at work and started my period I wasn’t ready for it as it came two weeks early so I wasn’t expecting it. I had to explain to my boss that I would have to go home and change my underwear (I did have tampons and pads but not underwear) this was okay until I came back I realised he told the other staff that are also all men. Is that allowed I feel kinda violated?
