Honestly I’m terrified

So on Tuesday I took my kids out to help me wash the dog and my two year old decided he wanted to go to the park. Within minutes he vanished and I ran across the road and there I was met by the mayor of our little town, well to keep the story short he called CPS on me. While I understand his concern and why he did it; I’m freaking out. I don’t want to lose my kids, I have taken extra precautions as I bought and child harness to prevent him from traveling without me.

Since, I haven’t been able to eat and I’m absolutely worried sick. I’ve been having nightmares etc. I’m just waiting for the knock on my door. Growing up my parents have beat into my head that the minute a report is filed, you lost everything saying things “only the good parents get their children taken.”

Has anyone dealt with anything similar?

What am I to expect?
