Mold in fridge ? Bad

We have this fridge in my laundry room/storage that we don’t use it’s a small one though it was left there from the previous owner hasn’t been used but was plugged in. I never got the chance to really clean it because I kept forgetting about it. Well last night we got home and I smelled this very strong odor like rotten eggs or of something was spoiled very strong as soon as you walk in the room. I called my husband cause I wasn’t sure he said maybe the fridge I checked and sure enough it had a lot of mold is it safe to keep it? If I clean it ? My husband also had turned it off while back because we weren’t using it idk if it could of been because of that and it gets hot
