Help me understand

Someone explain this to me cause it’s happened more than once and this time I wanna approached it with a level head. My family is planning what was supposed to be a surprise baby shower this coming weekend and apparently my fiancé knew about this surprise cause he included in the plans the shower starts at 7pm and he is also working that day cause his job has something planned as well. I said to him since you’re going to be at work I will use the car and do the things I have to do before the shower and which includes getting my makeup done then. He looking me dead in the face he doesn’t think that plan will work because he doesn’t know if he is closing (his job closes at 8 pm). I am trying not to be angry but wtf you know that there is an event planned for US that starts at 7. We live 30 minutes from his job so he wouldn’t be home until 8:30 (assuming he gets out on time) then we would have to drive other 30 to 45 minutes to get to the place where the shower is so we would be there until about 9:30 (counting the time he need to get dressed), and the place is only rented until 11. The thing that’s pissing me off is this is his usual thing he knows about a plan but doesn’t plan the time and then gets annoyed when he is remind of it. I had to cancel my dmv appointment that I told about for months due to the same crap.
