I’m a FTM and I’m currently 14wks. I’ve heard some people say there is fentanyl with an epidural or that if the epidural fails they’ll give fentanyl. I’m wondering how true this actually is? I’m a 5 year recovering drug addict and although opiates aren’t my thing I still refuse to take them. My doctor knows my history, but I’m worried if she’s not there during my delivery that if this is common practice someone may administer it to me without knowing my past or will try to force it on me. I’d gone to the hospital last year for a POTS attack and they tried to give me a benzo and when I refused and explained my past they kept pressuring me. I’d rather give birth naturally, but because of my POTS and SVT I’m worried it won’t be a good idea for me. (I will be talking to my doctor about all of this, but I was curious as I just read something about fentanyl in with an epidural)
