Sharp pain or cramps

Has anyone experienced pain in the lower mid-abdomen during your period? So I'm on BC and because I had some "suspicious" spotting last week while on vacation I decided to go ahead and skip my BC pills to make sure I get my withdrawal bleeding and I'm not prego. So I bled after not taking the pill for 2 days, but I usually never cramp like this. I was sitting at work when I kept feeling sharp pain in my lower abdomen. I had to unbutton my pants bc it was making the pain worse having them buttoned up. I want to think it was gas but I've never felt such pain before and it was in a much lower area than usual. Just curious because I haven't had a period like this in almost a yr that I've been on the pill.
