Poorly baby chokes from mucus in throat

Esther

I have an 8 month old baby who has caught some kind of a respiratory virus. It all started on Sunday evening (11/09/22) - a very bad cough, very runny nose, fever (38.2C), unusual sleepiness. She breastfeeds and because of the amount of mucus in her throat she chokes on it every minute. It is absolutely horrible!!! I am feeding her sitting up, also doing paced feeding, I’m doing everything I can to avoid her choking like this but oh my god it is just becoming worse and worse.

We are using a cold mist humidifier, she’s getting a lot of breastmilk, she is getting Calpol for the fever, I am also encouraging her to sleep as much as possible. I am up all night.

Today she had diarrhoea as well.

We saw the GP on Monday afternoon, she said it would go away soon.

What should I do?! Any similar experiences? I’m so worried it’s RSV. At what point do I take her to hospital?! Thanks in advance.
