Do you give your breastfed 6m+ baby multivitamin with iron?

My 7 month old is breastfed and gets 1 table food meal a day, although sometimes I skip a day and he only gets breast milk. I have been giving him vitamin d since birth, but his pediatrician said to switch to a multivitamin with iron. We tried one and he refused it, I don't blame him it smells awful lol. Do I really need to give him the multivitamin? I've read mixed medical studies and recommendations on it so I wanted to ask some other breastfeeding mothers what they do. Thanks in advance!
