Post Partum Essentials but how much do I buy?

Question

32 weeks first time mom. 
I’m making a list of what I need to buy for after delivery. Planning on vaginal birth, but idk how much to buy of what. 
For example, should I get the biggest box of maxi pads of like 108 pads , or 1 small pack of 36?
How many disposable diapers should I have ? 36 small pack or double that? 
Or should I buy 2 small packs of what I need of each item and return the packs I don’t end up using? That’s my biggest thing. I don’t want to buy the biggest packs and then not end up using half of what I bought. 
How many diapers and pads did you guys use realistically? Or how many did you change into a DAY?!

I’m 3 weeks postpartum and I am just about done bleeding so I’m back to using normal underwear and pads. I went through two 15 packs of depends for the first few days of heavy bleeding/going out of the house/night time and one small pack of the extra long pads. I have one small pack of normal size pads that’s about halfway gone. With my first I bled a lot more though, for about 5 weeks straight without stopping. That was three years ago so I can’t say for sure how much I used but it was significantly more than what I used this time around. Just start out small and get more as you need them

I would recommend high waisted underwear with a bit of support (this will be nice for a c section or a vaginal whichever way it goes) 
I used the size 4 over night maxi pads for the first couple days changing them every 1-2 hours, and then after that I change it every time the baby ate.(so about 8x a day after the first couple days of crazy bleeding) I would use the size 5 when sleeping because they have a wider back. With both of mine I think I used the heavy ones for about the first week. And was able to move down to a regular pad about 10 days pp. 
I’ve also heard of drastic differences in bleeding (for me it was a damn crime scene and I bled for the 6 weeks both times, but I’ve heard of people finishing their bleeding at 3 weeks)
My recommendation so you don’t have tonnes. 
Grab the big pack of pads and the diapers if you choose to use them,  to last about a week of heavy bleeding. You’ll be able to gauge how your bleeding will be a bit better after that and can have someone run out to get you more

I bought so much and I didn’t use hardly any of it. I only used the diapers in the hospital after that I used just regular period pads. I had bought the big always overnight ones but 1) they were scented and my postpartum nose couldn’t handle it and 2) I just didn’t need anything that large. I only bled for 3.5 weeksish. i used like two packages of pads.

I used Always boutique disposable underwear for about 6 weeks. I never switched to pads because when I tried they were so much more uncomfortable and multiple steps. I had two ten packs and went though them super quickly especially in the beginning, but they’re expensive so I would just go out and get them/have my husband go out and get them as needed.

I didn't even go through one pack of disposable underwear and I bought 2 but I just kept them for my second. I way over bought on pads too but again I'll be using them for my second now.

I only used 1 package of adult diapers (they last longer and I use them while in bed) and bought my pads at Sam's so got a lot lol I also purchased 1 package of the frida mom padsicles (they don't need to be stored in the freezer).

I changed mine quite often, every 4 hours to make sure I don’t get an infection. I can’t say for sure how much I’ve used. I know I’ve only used the diapers for like 2 days, I felt more comfortable with the soft pads. I also had a peri bottle that I was using every time I went to the toilet (for me warm water worked best). I also bought epsom salts to take sitz baths for 10minutes. It helped me a lot with my inflamed piles. I also bought a couple of disposable changing mats to have on my bed when I felt the need to just stay without a pad/diaper. Maternity pads i would suggest buy a smaller pack first and see if you really need more depending on how much is your flow. Diapers you would need plenty. I suggest going for a bigger diaper pack as the new born size would ve needed for a month or so. You can expect 6-8 diapers a day. You ll also need lot of wipes abd few burp cloth.

I prepared for a vaginal birth but ended up with a C-section at the last minute. I made padsicles from a package of 36 overnight period pads that ended up going to waste. On the other hand, I didn’t want to have to do it after the fact or try to get my husband to do it for me… I didn’t use any adult diapers. I used two small packages of the maternity pads before switching to regular period pads. My hospital did end up sending some supplies home with me. After two weeks, my bleeding was light enough for pantiliners but I went through quite a few of those.￼￼￼ (even though I am 20 weeks PP, I figure someday my period will come back and I will need the leftover pads and pantiliners again!)￼ I agree with the comment about underwear/ bottoms. With my C-section wound (and bloating), I either needed something￼￼ lower cut or pretty high cut so that it wasn’t hitting that spot exactly.￼
