Sore nipples after period

I had what i would call a light period about a week and a half ago that lasted for about 5 days, ever since then my nipples have been extremely sore. I tested to see if I’m pregnant and it’s negative along with ovulation test. They are not dry, i don’t breast feed, i haven’t had an injury to my nipples so I’m at lost and don’t understand why they are sore following a period…

Has this happened to anyone ? I’ve never experience sore nipples following a period..
