I’m currently 7w 2d. I haven’t been seen yet but the obgyn that I selected is already setting up monthly payments for appointments? I feel kind of lost because this is my first baby so everything is just confusing — but did you meet the financial advisor on your first visit to discuss payment arrangements? Deep down I feel weird about it.

No... especially not if you have insurance. Each appointment should be filed through your insurance. I would never go to a doctor who requires payment plans upfront... especially if you have insurance.
Now, my OB office that was in the actual hospital did give an option to make payments towards the portion of what my over all bill would be including all prenatal appointments and vaginal birth during my pregnancy. It was not required. They did suggest having a certain amount of it paid before I gave birth but it wasn't required. I would never make payments before something has been filed with my insurance.

I have never heard of anything like that. I would just call the office and ask. I'd probably call a few othe providers to see if that's just something they do where you live.

It’s similar to my OB, they have you pay $800 or it might be $1000 before you have the baby, there’s a certain time you have to have it paid by in the pregnancy before they will deliver the baby and if you can’t pay it all at once they will allow you to pay over time. It’s like their base fee in addition to whatever the insurance pays for. Our insurance plan only covers 2 ultrasounds and only specific blood tests so any additional u/s or testing you have would also come out of pocket as well. They’ve done that for all 3 of my pregnancies.
