Different pain management recommendations?

I did epidural last time it didn’t work so I’m wanting to try something new this time.

I personally find it more of a “mind over body” experience, I’ve had two med free labour/births, and for me I like to use water as a form of pain relief, hot showers/bath etc and I find “walking” off the contractions super helpful. I’ll be trying my first home water birth this time round😊

I've had 2 homebirths and used hypnobirthing for pain management. Both the relaxation techniques and birth education were beyond helpful to have my babies at home unmedicated.

I’m not sure what it is but there’s iv pain medication as well. I got that first to hold off on the epidural. It worked for awhile but once that pitocin hit I couldn’t handle it anymore

Honestly it took me 4 births to feel the power of saying g I GOT THIS amd taking nothing for pain.  I had a beautiful 8 hr labor as my husband stayed home q our other kids. - Thr backstop is that I had 2 indu tions w pitocin bc my waters broke n I had hospital births. I didn't have much much of a choice, but fkr my 3rd I chose an induction bc babies from women over 40 don't always make it past 39 weeks. My SIL had a still birth and the Dr said it could be something genetic that could affect me so I was scared. It was hard to get child care to sp I saod yes induce me at 39 weeks. I took misoprostil for 20 hrs whi h is 2 pills given every 4 hrs..you re not hooked to any IV amd you can leave the hospital to walk around etc. ( and eat too). My co traction s started slowly but within  3p min my water broke n an hr later I was pushing g...I did have an epidural but the anesthesiologist placed it too high n there was a big fear from the med staff bc my heart rate n Baby s were dropping g. They shut it off n that was that. The pain meds I took w my fkrst two made me feel sick..Iforgot to mention o took those too...I ca t remember much but one made me sleep for 30 min n then dos nothing else n one had me puking n didn't help much either. If you watch Bridget Teylers videos on how to have a natural birth n how to get baby into the best position for birth you may say I wanna try this without meds. My experiences paired w scientific research shows that if people tell themselves it s not gonna be so bad n believe it, they feel less pain. Also doing prenatal yoga helped me push away back labor w my 4th - really quickly, and I hadn't done s ton, but I did some n was able to do it I'm the tub. I ve never had nitrous but it looks like it works for many women. Lastnote- the most peaceful birth I ever saw is one from Ellen Fisher. Must check her channel out...her 5th baby was born recently n she just made a birthing course ( Bridget teyler has one too called built to birth) . Anyway you will love Ellen's latest birth video ...she s so at peace ✌
