Baby napping

My 6 month old will only nap in my arms, in the stroller or in the car. I try to put him down once he falls to sleep and his eyes pops open almost instantly.. I try putting him down when he’s drowsy but not yet sleeping and the same thing happens.. occasionally I’ll be successful (like 5% of the time ) in getting him down but he always wakes within 20-30 mins of laying him down. Do anyone have any tips? I can’t get anything done around the house. I often have to just sit on the couch holding him just so he will nap. any tips are appreciated.
