Am I behind in life?
Because I definitely feel like I am. For reference:
I graduated college in 2016, rented my own apartment for 2 years and then moved back to my hometown and in with my brother to save money. I do pay rent to him, pay all of my bills, and have always had steady employment (I am going through a pretty significant career change right now though).
However, I can’t help but think I am behind because:
1) I live with my brother at 28 years old. Even though I pay rent and help take care of my niece whom we have with us half of each week, I still feel like I should be fully on my own at this point.
2) I have savings and investments, however they are very small- I have only about 4K saved and about 2k in investments. Again, at 28 this feels like I’m way behind the curve.
3) While I have always had between 2-3 jobs ever since I graduated college, I am now in a transitional period as I begin a brand new career at the end of the month (which is scary as shit) and only have a part time job at the moment. I would have had only a part time job for a month which feels like a long time to me. Once I start my new career I’ll be clocking in with about 65 hours a week and hopefully a much more lucrative paycheck (base salary + commission). I just feel like I should have been in this situation years ago.
4) I do not have a romantic partner. I’ve gone on dates and have been on dating apps for years and nothing sticks, either on my part or theirs. I feel like a lot of it has to do with the aforementioned points. Or I’m just an awful person to date 😂
Does anyone else feel like this? Or have any insight? Or any “kick me in my ass tell me to get over myself” tidbits to share?
