We always use towels, because my vagina produce many fluid and it leakage outside. I'm on the IUD, so my husband cums inside me which adds more fluid and more leakage.
Also I find it a good solution during period sex.

We used to not put anything down but about 6 months ago I started squirting so we now lay down a waterproof blanket bc if we didn't we would be changing the sheets and mattress protector every time
