Dogs in stores?🤨

I’ve noticed people are bringing their dogs everywhere these days. Supermarkets, restaurants , clothing stores, Starbucks etc. i like dogs HOWEVER I think it’s impolite to bring animals in places where the law specifies it’s not allowed unless it’s a service animal. My toddler is anaphylactic to dog dander and saliva, it’s very rare but unfortunately it’s his life. The dogs being everywhere it somewhat troubling to me and I don’t think the trend is going away. Besides my son I’m sure there are people who are scared of animals that don’t want to worry about standing next to them in a store. Am I wrong to thing pets should be kept out of these areas unless it specifically says dog friendly?

I love dogs, but outside of service animals or stores that make it explicitly clear they are pet friendly, no.
I really do not understand why people feel entitled to bring their dogs into shops.  It’s quite selfish imo.

I think you should only take dogs in places that specifically say they are dog friendly. I have a dog, she is a large german shepherd, shes totally friendly but the breed she is, many people are scared of her. So I personally wouldnt take her into anywhere unless it was specifically dog friendly. Even if I had a different breed, I think its just respect. We have quite a few little resturants near where we live that are really dog friendly and loads of people take their dogs in. So people that are eating in there, know they will be in there. If people want to eat without dogs then they’ll go somewhere where dogs arent allowed, so people shouldnt think to even try and take their dogs in i think.

Service animals, absolutely. No exceptions. I’m referring to true service animals.
Outside of that, I don’t think people should bring any type of pets into indoor establishments. Allergies are very real. Animal aversion is very real.  Animal related trauma is very real. 
I love dogs, I own two of my own, but I understand that they aren’t for everyone, and I don’t have the right to force them on the public simply because I like them a lot.

Service animals everywhere of course. 
Pet stores, cat/dog cafes, dog parks, are all cool. There’s probably other appropriate venues I’m not thinking of too. 
Non service animals should be more restricted in general spaces though. There’s issues with both training and hygiene though. I’ve had more than one large dog belonging to strangers jump on me “just playing” and I hate it. I’ve also seen people plop small dogs down on food service counters, and it’s gross. 
This is coming from an animal person too. I genuinely like pets. Not every does though. Not everyone can be safely around them. Not everyone is a good pet owner who puts the amount of work in needed to make their animal public space safe.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine. (Lol at the pun) I don’t like animals. I have ptsd triggered by sudden or loud sounds, like barking. I don’t go to places where dogs are allowed. So I really don’t appreciate people bringing dogs wherever they go.

In general, No.
REAL service animals in any location is absolutely okay. 
However so many people fake certify their dogs and it infuriates me. There are online sites where you can pay like 75 bucks to get a certification for your dog for like PTSD or something and people will have a completely untrained dog in a working dog vest trying to pass them off as a service animal and it's just infuriating to me and insulting to people with disabilities with real service animals.
Anywhere that is pet friendly I don't mind if someone just has their pet with them but even as a mega animal lover it is SUPER annoying to see people acting entitled or sneaking their pet into stores and restaurants that specifically state no pets allowed. I don't want to shop in a store and have someone's untrained pet barking at me. The grocery store isn't the dog park ya know...

People bringing their pets and non-certified "support" animals into spaces not made for them honestly just makes the lives of people who actually need and have certified sevice animals harder.
I love animals and love being in pet friendly places, but get serious anxiety when you have animals in places they are clearly not comfortable to be in (over-stimulated, not enough space, product that can easily be damaged/mussed by a curious animal, etc.)
My father works with therapy dogs (visit in schools, hospitals and care homes) and calm as his dogs are, I have given him shit for taking the smaller one (a maltese) shopping with him since they aren't service animal in the same bracket as a guide dog or allergen alert animal and for all the reasons everyone else has brought up (fear, allergies, enabling others who do not have well-trained animals, etc.)

You’re not wrong, it’s super annoying to me when I’m trying to grocery shop and someone brings their dog into the store 😒 and I know for a fact these aren’t real service animals, they aren’t trained at all

I’m probably bias but if it were allowed, I’d take my little Aussie with me everywhere I went. In majority of places, only true service dogs are allowed but in places like Rural King, tractor supply, and pet stores, those are the only places that allow pets. Other than that, I don’t take my dog with me. Too many people do abuse the service dog situation and bring an emotional support animal which do not have the same privileges so that does bug me because they try to cheat the system and that’s not fair to those of us that aren’t allowed to bring our pets with us and follow the law.
