Is This a Good Idea?

Question

We don't have a dining room table for our house but want to start having family dinners with our 6 month old instead of eating in front of the TV. 
I am being kind of cheap here but can't bring myself to buy an actual dining room table. We were at Home Depot today and saw this picnic table and I was like...that's intriguing. I could put a table cloth over it and make it look nice. 
Thoughts?

People are selling tables and chair sets for cheap on Facebook Marketplace all the time. You should be able to get a fine set for under $100. I'd do that before getting a picnic table.

I think family dinners are absolutely wonderful! I don’t have scientific data, but after 10 years of teaching, I can almost always identify who eats as a family and who doesn’t. If a picnic table works for you, then alright. But I’d look into a small table with chairs (people sell them often on Marketplace or garage sales). Once you transition out of the high chair to a booster, a table with an actual chair will work much better than a picnic table.

I wouldn’t, but it’s your house and your money - do what works for you! For the price, you could likely find a small dining set, though, especially a used one.

So I highly suggest also looking at market place you might even be able to get a patio set cheap being winter or a dinning room set. Aldi has been selling outdoor tables for s couple of years people always use in their homes.
Family dinners are important and however you do it I think is great.

Definitely not my style. You can find a cheap table with chairs. That would be a pain in the ass for your kid to sit at. Idk if you have a high chair or a booster seat but the booster seat would not fit properly on those benches.

I would look on Facebook marketplace or if you have a second hand store that sells furniture like Habitat for Humanity Restore. You can likely find a regular dining set for less than the cost of the picnic table.
