Why so many kids?

Why do people choose to have multiple kids? Lol I’ve always been curious about parents’ willingness to expend time, energy, and physical/financial resources to like 5+ kids. Do they have bountiful, seemingly endless resources? Do they just feel like they overflow with capacity to provide, tend to, and care for as many children as possible? I guess besides the opportunity to see just how many unique humans you can make, why not stop at a few?

I have 5 kids. I work from home and home school them. When I say I’m with them alllllllllll the time I legit mean it. But that’s what we preferred to do. Now since I’m changing jobs my husband will be home more and I’ll be outside the home. That’s my choice. 
Are they happy? Yes
Well mannered? Yes
Every need taken care of? Yes
Spoiled as hell? Yes
Will I have another? Yes. Last pregnancy…. Maybe

Because it’s their business. If they can take care of them properly then it’s their business if they cannot then yea I can say “this is not responsible” but at the end of the day there’s nothing I can do about it.
Having a child is general is backed up by selfish reasons.
Two children=selfish reasons
No children= selfish reasons.
There isn’t one reason about procreating or not procreating that isn’t selfish. 
I just kind my own vagina as long as there is no abuse. The means in which someone can care for a child can change in an instant.

I have ten children and one of the way. Eight girls and two boys. To me motherhood is the best thing, that has ever happened in my life. Both my husband and I come from big families so I definitely knew I would have more than 5. We can afford it and we can afford to give them a really good life. I don’t particularly enjoy being pregnant. I don’t know why we keep having more kids. Generally when we decided to add another child to the family, we think, can we afford it, is it fair on the rest of our children, is it safe and do we have space in our house. If any of those questions are a no, then we wouldn’t be adding another one to the family.

My mom said she had so many because she loved having a big family growing up and she wanted a long dinner table slap full of grandkids one day. We gave her all these grandkids just for her to go and live in an RV. Smh.

I used to want four kids, it was the idea of that big happy family blah blah but I just had my third and I'm like never again lmao. I think I could handle a fourth kid but it's pregnancy and the first 6 months that are just killer for me. I don't enjoy it at all. I love love love being a mom and having kids but I don't think my attention could handle more than one more. I think moms who have 5+ kids are amazing! I kinda wish I could but I just can't handle all that myself 😂😂😂

I have no idea lol. I have one and I can barely stay sane. I’m the youngest of four and I love having multiple siblings, though. I’m sure a lot of people have a lot of kids because they either had a lot of siblings and loved it, or didn’t have any and always wish they did. It could also be a religious thing. I know some religious people think it’s their duty as a person. And maybe others it’s because of a lack of access to or education regarding contraception.

When I was pregnant with my first, I said I wanted four kids. I have two right now. A 5 year old and 4 year old. I don’t think I want anymore lol. I love my kids dearly, but four sounds like so many now. I also had a very traumatic childhood and have zero family (other than my husband and kids). It’s really important to me that I form a strong bond with each of my kids collectively and individually. I worry I wouldn’t be able to have individual time with each child if I had a lot. I also really value our small family. It feels so cozy and warm with just the four of us. I have considered having one more, but now that my kids aren’t babies/toddlers, it seems difficult to go back to that stage of parenthood.

I don’t think it’s anyones business why another person has the number of kids they have. Sure it’s ok to wonder about something different that you can’t imagine for yourself. It is a blessing to have children. And sometimes it’s not planned. Sometimes it is planned. It’s very different per individual. For the moms who choose to have 5+ kids on purpose- that’s their right. And most believe that every child is meant to be here and has a purpose. God says to be fruitful and multiply- and for me I have children when I feel led by the Lord. We are pregnant with our 4th currently and I have a really hard time getting pregnant. So I have to fully put my faith in it. For me it’s a desire in my heart that won’t go away. Why? Because it’s from God. I’ve also never heard anyone say I wish I hadn’t had kids. I always hear older people talk about how they wish they had had more. It’s a blink! It’s such a short time in your life. And I’m excited for our bigger growing family and all the things we will conquer in life together. As far as the women who didn’t plan it but have 5+ kids. God carries them through and will always provide a way when things are tough. Just putting faith first gets you there. A big family is one of Gods promises to me- fulfilling the desires of my heart. We also would love to foster kids eventually. A big family is a blessing.
