When did you transition your kid from baby crib to toddler bed ?

My first at a year old because he had learned how to climb out but not climb down so he would just fall to the floor and I was so afraid he would get hurt so we dropped the bed down and converted it. My second, we swapped hers over around 10 months cause she’s still nursing and we stopped Bedsharing, but she prefers to nurse side lying as do I, so I just nurse her in her bed and then sneak away. Couldn’t do that with it still in crib form lol

My son was like 1.5 & only because he kept putting his knees between the crib bars(on purpose) would get stuck & start crying cause it hurt 😑 so I had no choice but to turn it to toddler bed. That didn’t last long because he didn’t learn his lesson & kept getting stuck between the bars of the remaining 3 sides of the crib. The last time he got stuck so bad I almost broke his leg trying to get it out ( I panicked) I ended up getting him a short twin size bed. He fell a couple times but got the hang of it eventually. He’s 3. I really liked his toddler crib but it was just not for him. He is a wild child. Do what you think is best for your little one. Their safety is all that matters.

My daughter went from crib to a twin floor bed at 20 months then to a regular twin at 23 months.

Moved my girls out of the crib whenever they could climb out - or if I needed the crib for a new baby. Usually between 18 and 24 months. Usually would take a few weeks to teach them to stay in the bed. It’s actually kind of nice having them out of the crib. No need to lift heavy toddlers out of bed anymore, and it’s another step towards self-sufficiency for the toddler.

I did both at 2yrs and I honestly found toddler beds a waste of money. By 3 years both of my kids had queen sized beds. My son was gifted one for free and my daughter wanted one like him so of course we had to be fair and by him one. My 2 month old will get a queen size when he turns 2 as well. I just realized that with a queen they can use it until they move out instead of keep buying new beds.

My son will be 3 in February and is still in a crib. I plan to keep him there until he tries to escape 🤣. I considered moving him to a bed because I’m due in December with #2 so I could use the crib with baby, but at the end of the day, it was worth it for me to spend another couple hundred dollars for a crib in order to hopefully not have a newborn waking me plus a toddler finding me in the night!
