I’m 5w2d and had an ultrasound done at the ER for some pain I was having the doctor said there is a gestation sac and a yolk sac but no fetal pole yet. My hcg is rising the way it should. 130-442-1229-6300 all within 48hrs I have beta hcg done due to a previous ectopic pregnancy. Is it normal to not see a fetal pole yet?

Yes that’s normal. Also, try not to go to the ER unless directed by your OB, they are notorious for bad OB advice because they typically have no training in the area

Ideally you would want to see a fetal pole after 6 weeks. Sometimes they can catch them at 5 and 1/2 weeks. It’s important to note that unless you know the exact date you ovulated and conceived, which most of us don’t, you could easily be 5 weeks instead of 5 weeks 2 days, if that makes sense. Sometimes we freak ourselves out when we are just a tad early. My first apt my app said I was 7+5 or something but i was measuring 7+2 which is totally normal and happens all the time.
