Elf on the shelf. Thoughts?

We don’t do the “better be good cause the elf is watching”, that’s creepy. But we do like to craft him into seasonal festive shenanigans. Just for fun.. and sometimes I forget, so, no pressure. It was my oldest sons idea to start an elf, I thought he was gonna do the elfing but apparently he wanted me to do it 🫤 he’s the one that wanted it 🤷🏼‍♀️

We did it for a couple of years but I sort of started to dislike the thought of my kids being good because he was watching them…. My oldest son likes hiding it for the younger kids so now he hides him every morning and they just get to find him.  We don’t do the whole back story.

Not doing it because we’re not doing Santa. I have a younger sister who is 14 years younger than me and I saw how much of a pain it was for my mom to do when my sister was little.

I don’t do elf on the shelf and was warned by other moms not to start 😂 I’ve been told it’s fun for a couple days but every night when you’re completely exhausted from being a mom, instead of doing something for yourself you need to move the elf around and craft him a scene….

I almost instantly regretted doing it, but then I was stuck. Thank goodness my youngest no longer believes in Santa, so I never have to move that stupid thing again, lol.
That said, my kids did really love it.
