Confused

My ex is in college but me and have been talking and seeing each other and he told me he was tired of being single and her said he can’t be in relationships with me rn because he is in school so i asked what was we and he said we are friends for right now I’m supposed to be going to the same school with him in the fall…. Does that mean we getting back together later on when things are good if he said we are friends for now?
