Sore throat

I’ve had an extremely sore throat for about 2 weeks now. It started as a really bad cough. The cough is better but the sore throat is intense. Like I can’t talk without extreme pain. Anyone else have this? I saw a doc and he said my throat was a little inflamed but he wasn’t concerned. Any tips on relief? We have my sons birthday party tomorrow and I don’t think I can talk over a bunch of noisy boys right now 😩
