How are you you birthing?

I was just thinking about this this morning and was curious how others are planning to birth. I really need to figure something out cos I’m 14 weeks already. I want a home birth. I’ve home birthed before and I’ve had had hospital births. My preference is a home birth. I’ve had horrible experiences with hospitals and one was very traumatic (birth rape and medical malpractice). There’s just too much stress and anxiety (for me) to plan a hospital birth, I’m literally terrified of it. A home birth would be completely stress free and peaceful. I’d love to free birth but I’m willing to compromise with my fiancés paranoia of the “what if something bad happens” and have a home birth. He’s prefer a home birth too.

My mil did home births after a traumatic hospital birth with my husband. She almost died both times because she refused to be transferred to a hospital for blood infusions she saw the light her last birth but stayed. Not trying to scare you. I just recommend getting transferred if you need blood. But honestly I’d do home birth if I get the green light. But had to have an emergency C-section last time so it’s unlikely

Wanted a home birth but with our living situation it's just not possible 😭 so I'm compromising with going to a birth center. None of my hospital births have been bad, just want to be more comfortable and have more birthing choices (like water or other places for upmost comfort in the moment)

Then get cleared to do a home birth. It’s your birth. Do what you are comfortable with. You being stressed will be the opposite of helpful so do what’s best for you. If you had to have medical intervention with any of your births make sure your midwife knows in advance so she can keep an eye on things. Make sure to get someone who is willing to tell you when or if you need to go to the hospital and trust their judgement. Don’t do a free birth. Get a professional involved who can make decisions while you are in labor. All you should be focused on is the labor itself. Everything else should be handled by them.

I wanted to do a birth center since it seemed like a happy medium, but it just didn’t work out financially/ with my insurance. 
So far the OB/GY clinic at the hospital closest to me has seemed is very warm and inviting. Probably helped they had it decorated for the holidays.

I totally support home births if that's where you'll be most comfortable. So sorry you had such an awful experience with your hospital birth. I am a bit of a worrier though and would be thinking through the whole birth "what if there's a complication?" so I wouldn't be able to relax and birth well. I have always had hospital births with midwives. Both labours have been straight forward with no intervention and my midwives were amazing. Was very glad to have a paediatrician and NICU down the corridor when my 2nd born needed resuscitation after birth (not at all expected as pregnancy and labour were both low risk). I know the same happening again would be very unlikely but will bithing again in a hospital with a midwife for my 3rd labour.

I work labor and delivery. I'm delivering on my unit with a private OB. However, if this birth is fast like my others, it may be one of the hospitalists catching 🤣. I'm glad to be delivering somewhere with nurses and providers I trust.
