Tips for hand expressing?

Whenever I try I don’t get much, I know you’re not supposed to pump with a newborn but my breasts stay engorged and I’m trying to relieve the pressure with hand expressing but I guess I’m doing it wrong. Any tips on how to hand express a decent amount to provide relief?

Just keep massaging. You’re likely more swollen than full of milk especially if you’re in the first 2 weeks of pp. Take ibuprofen. Massage. Hand express in the shower with hot water. 
You squeeze and pull down from the edge of your areola towards your nipple. You don’t squeeze your nipple.

Massage for a good few minutes before starting and break every once in a while to massage again. With your hand in a C shape, gently squeeze going towards the nipples. It'll take a bit before the milk starts squirting.

How many days/wks are you pp? As this could easily be tissue swelling also. Motrin will help with that.
