Twins or old wives tale?

Question

So I’ve been horrendously sick and nauseas since 4+5, this is a clomid baby and I know I had 2 follicles when I was scanned before ovulating. Every single person who knows I’m pregnant keeps telling me that because I’m so sick so early it must be twins. 
I’ve got a scan on the 17th of Jan so I guess we will know for certain then but is there any truth to it do you think or just an old wives tale?

I did IVF, had two embryos transferred and had hyperemesis from hell. Even had an insanely high hcg level. Only one baby though. 
I’d say old wives tale.

I know clomid is known for causing twins, and I do know of some people who had symptoms very early and more intense than their singles because they were having twins!
