Which one should I go for?

I am going in vacation for my birthday soon. Me and my bf are going to the bahamas and I told him that I am going to either get braids or faux locs done. He says that “your not supposed to get those because of the sand”. I told him when you go on vacation, to avoid doing your hair, especially as a black woman, you get braids. He disagrees and everytime I talk about he says: “ i wish you would listen to me”. Am I wrong for knowing what to do with MY hair. Or should I listen to him and pay for a wig install that’ll only last 1-2 weeks?
