To implant or do another retrieval?

Hi everyone! I need some advice! I am 34 years old and have been TTC for a year now. My husband and I are both healthy but I seem to have unexplained infertility. I have done 6 unsuccessfully IUIs and now am in the middle of an IVF cycle where 6 embryos were created. However, of the 6 only 1 was normal after have a genetic test and is graded AB. My doctor recommends doing another retrieval so that I have more eggs for future embryos while I am younger before implanting this one. But I just feel like I’m ready to see what happens with this one and not really mentally ready to spend another month doing a retrieval and waiting to implant. Can anyone share some advice? I am about to start ivf with my next period.  My doctor suggested n it to test the embryos bc it is not a true test as it is only testing what would be the placenta and science has showed that a lot of good embryos are gotten rid of when you do this testing and at our age leaves us with fewer embryos when those “abnormal” ones have a high provability of not having any issues.  He says some clinics refuse to use them despite the science backing this.  Since my clinic does this and has had success I am going to follow his advice.  Does your clinic have this option? If mine didn’t and I only had 1 embryo although it is costly I would definitely do another cycle before trying to implant bc the longer you wait the less likely you are to have future luck especially if your clinic tests and gets rid of any abnormals

My question would be - are you considering trying to have additional children in the future after this one? If so, I would definitely consider obtaining more eggs now even if it delays things a month. Unfortunately, the quality of our eggs starts to decline after 30 and more quickly after 35. Your uterus thankfully stays pretty hospitable though! So my thought would be that your best chance of more than one child would be obtaining more eggs now. However, if you’re not thinking of any additional children and you want to give this embryo a chance, then I’d say go for it! 🙂

It's your decision. If you want to implant the embryo and see what happens, do that. I honestly don't see what the point is in waiting. You can always start another cycle later if necessary but follow your heart and implant this embryo. I really hope that it sticks Good luck and baby dust to you!!

Since you are only 34 and you have unexplained infertility, I would have do another retrieval just to get the chances of more ￼embryos, so just in case this one won’t cling to, than you will have other to try￼., and give you some peace of mind that when you do want to try for more babies ( probably at the age of 36-37) you will have an embryo that was conceived from a 34 yr old egg. Or even keep it for later on.
