When it becomes more than just a friend

When you’re going to that person for support before me. Like if you get good news you want to share and you go to the “friend” first. Or if you go to this friend for emotional support before me. I feel like a lot of times it starts with discussing problems in the existing relationship. if my husband is having a problem with me, I trust that he would come to me about it vs a friend who doesn’t need to be involved. If we were to get into a big fight and he needed to talk it out with a friend, that’s one thing. But if it’s a constant nitpicking and belittling with another person in a way the hypes them up, then I think it’s wrong. For example there’s a huge difference between being like “I’m so mad and __. They did __ and I don’t know what to do.” Vs. “I’m so mad at __. They did __. I know you’d never do that to me.”

If my bub had a longtime family friend, but the relationship was clearly familial, I wouldn't have a problem with it, especially if she had her own partner.
I would have a problem if he started making new female friends, that would be a deal breaker for me.
I don't believe married men, or men in relationships should start getting too close with female coworkers or someone they meet at a bar, or someone who's introduced to them. Absolutely no lunch dates or long phone calls with other women.
Call me toxic but even if he had female friends while he was single, he now must categorize and compartmentalize her into another category. I wouldn't make him block or ignore people he knew before me, but he for sure would have to set clear boundaries.
