Glucose test- Updates
Can anyone tell me if the one hour glucose is supposed to be fasting?
When I got labs drawn the last time, the phlebotomist told me that I’d be getting the glucose test at 24 weeks. She said not to worry because it’s not fasting and to eat eggs or toast that morning but nothing sugary. At my 20 week appointment, the NP told me that my glucose test was the next appointment as well as having to do another anatomy scan since my baby was moving way too much to get what they needed. She didn’t mention it was fasting, and when I told her about the phlebotomist telling me that eggs or toast were fine, she said to just make sure I didn’t eat anything with a lot of sugar. I called today to get my appointment moved from Wednesday to Thursday, and the receptionist told me not to eat after midnight and that the test is fasting. Most of the receptionists aren’t practicing nurses, and I’m really confused because she contradicted what I was told by the other two.
Update: It was supposed to be fasting, but I only ate two eggs, so I’ll just hope it doesn’t interfere with the results. 😭
