What does this mean??

I’ve been seeing a guy for 3 months now. He’s 12 years older than me. I’m 28 and he’s 40. 
He keeps saying sometimes he feels some type of way with that age gap. He started saying something like “ok imagine you’re 30 dating a 18 year old boy who just came out of high school and you have this career job already he doesn’t know wtf you’re talking about when you talk about your job”
Kinda felt offended and he said that he went through different life experiences than me. I told him it didn’t bother me but if it bothered him we should just cut it off. He didn’t say much and just kissed me

I think it means he's questioning the age gap for whatever reason. Just my thought... I was married to a man 12 years older than me I was 18 and he was 30 when we got married, needless to say for us it didn't work out but we gave it our best shot for 18 years and 3 kids later. It could obviously be different in your situation.

At 19 I dated a guy 13years older than me for three years. It wasn’t a good relationship and despite thinking I was mature enough, I definitely wasn’t and looking back I wish I never put myself in that situation and actually think it creepy that someone in their thirties was interested in a 19yo…
Now, I’m married to a guy 12years older, but we met when I was 27. I’d lived, dated enough to know what I wanted and expected from a partner, I knew what I wanted in life. It’s a completely different scenario! 
If he doesn’t see the difference, don’t waste your time, he obviously feels he is a different life stage whether or not that is true.

It means he’s not comfortable with the age gap and doesn’t think you have anything in common. I would find someone else… men actually do tell you what they mean, but their actions will be the opposite of their words… I would be cautious. Men with that kind of age gap mostly do it for the looks of the female… It gets old when they don’t have anything to relate to, which can be embarrassing for some eventually when they try to bring you into their social groups. Send like this is that type of situation

He just feels weird about it. Most people do, but we don't always decide who we fall for.
Just talk about it and tell him to figure out if he can be cool with it or not.

Age gap is nothing. Maybe he’s bothered by it. My husband and I had a 14 year age gap. (He’s born 1977 I’m 1991)
