Milk not coming out of pump?

Hi everyone I’m a first time mom and my baby was born march 1st breastfeeding is not working out so I plan to exclusively pump I bought both a manual and electric breast pump . My boobs have already started to get hard and lumpy and hurt I’ve tried using both and no milk is coming I’m only leaking .. can someone give me some advice or insight I’m going to see a lactation consultant tomorrow idk if using the pump wrong or what it’s just very very frustrating maybe it’s something wrong w me idk 😓

Pumping mama here. Pumped exclusively for 13 months. 
Have you discovered the website exclusivelypumping.com ? It’s amazing and totally helped me with my first!! Couple of things to check for is if your milk has fully come in yet? If it has next is to figure out your flange size. This is SUPER important and can make a huge difference with milk supply. I also recommend Pumpin’ Pals. They make silicone flanges that mold to your breast and honestly for an under supplier my supply went up after switching to those. 
Another huge component to pumping is where you pump and what you’re doing while you pump. If you can pump in a quiet place and be in a totally relaxed mindset (I know what the hell? Totally relaxed after giving birth 5 days ago? Yeah right) but try to ease yourself cause milk will flow easier if you’re relaxed. For me it was Pinterest and watching a movie and then I got into some good book series. So whatever you need to do to get the oxytocin flowing. A warm shower beforehand with hot compresses can help too. 
Lastly if your pump has a massage and pulse setting play around with those to see what can warm up the boobs and then get them into a nice groove. Hope this helps!!

Seek help from a lactation consultant/IBCLC. could be the pump isn't responding well to your body, flange size isn't correct, boobs are too hard to get a good fit, not using the pump correctly, etc.
Latching issue can be for a few reasons too. A common reason that is overlooked by many is oral ties. Depending on the tie babe won't be able to latch correctly or use tongue properly. A lactation consultant should be able to help you with that if you ask about it

On your electric pump, are you using the stimulation mode first? You need to stimulate a letdown first and then switch to the expression mode once the milk starts flowing.
Same with a manual pump, you do quick short pumps first to stimulate the letdown, and then long slow pulls once the milk is flowing.

Flange size is important like other poster said. Even if nothing comes keep pumping regularly every 2-3 hours aiming for 120 minutes in 24 hours. Put a warm cloth on breast and massage before pumping to stimulate flow. Also taking goats rue, morniga and Shatavari capsules helped me immensely to increase supply and so did Methi/fenugreek even though many people on the app say it killed their supply so may or can order all on Amazon. I did also take Motherlove special blend the first month.
