Should my son skip this kids bday party?

My husband and I are in need of a night away from the kids. My in laws have offered to have them sleepover this weekend. The problem is, my son has a birthday party to go to in the morning on Sunday. The party is at the little girls house and I have already RSVP’d yes. 
My husband has been having some pretty bad mental health issues lately which have flowed into our marriage so we could really use a night off to reconnect. I can’t help but feel bad if I bail on this kid’s bday as I’m friends with her Mother. My son doesn’t mind if he goes to the party or not as he doesn’t really like the other child much. What should I do?

Can you not just have your weekend next week? I believe it would be also more relaxing if you don't have to ask yourself if it was the right decision. And also if your husband struggles that much with his mental health that a week is to far then I don't think a weekend away will make a difference and he should get professional help.

Please do not put your marital issues on your child. Let the child go- your son and his friend are looking forward to it. Your MIL can bring the child or you can early.

If he’s just being dropped off, can grandma drop him off? If not, then I’d just message the mom and apologize that something came up and he won’t be able to make it to the party, especially if your kid is indifferent about going.

Can’t mom take him that morning and you guys go get him if not just let her mother know and maybe plan smithing for a friend outing go get ice cream or something
