I dated this wonderful guy for 4 months. Due to his crazy commitments with work, entrepreneurship, taking care of sick family members and being a single father. He believes he doesn’t have time for a relationship but he wants to remain friends. We’ve never had any relationship issues. It was like we were soulmates. We understood each other. I believe he is the right person wrong timing. Would you be friends your ex?

There is no such thing as the right person at the wrong time. The right person would make time. You can definitely be just friends, but it may be hard if you have strong feelings for him and he doesn’t want anything more than a friendship

First of all I dont buy his excuse, because when you really want to be with someone, you work it out even amidst life craziness. Also, you clearly have strong feelings for him, so no I dont think a true friendship is possible. If he dates someone else, it will sting....thats not really a friendship. I feel that you can be friendly with an ex, eg coparent nicely, be cordial if you run into each other etc but not truly hanging out and still talking but 'just friends' because if you had a strong enough connection to be in a relationship and have sex, then that dynamic/spark doesnt usually just vanish, you maybe just choose to no longer act on it.

In your specific situation, I wouldn’t be friends. It sounds like he’s trying to let you down easy. But I did vote yes you can on the poll because I’m great friends with a guy I dated for 5 years. We’re both married now, I’ve got a daughter and pregnant with #2 and will always love and care for him but our friendship is completely platonic. So it is possible, yes, I just don’t think it’s wise in your scenario.
