U/S was empty, no sac but thickened uterine lining. Any help?

Had TV U/S but Doctor couldn't see pregnancy yet- said its either too early or potential ectopic. But also said my uterine lining is quite thick. Is thick lining a good or bad sign? Google is giving me conflicting opinions so wanted to check incase anyone on here has had this happen to them.

It’s normal for the lining to be good and thick to support a pregnancy. For me when I had my ultrasound at 5 weeks exactly nothing was visible, just a thickened lining, which was normal. 
Unfortunately my repeat 10 days later showed no progression and my hcg decreased and I eventually bled on my own at what should have been 6 weeks and some change. 
So if you should be 5 ish weeks or sooner probably ok, if you should be over 6 weeks then more likely not as ok. Hoping your just early, good luck!
