A teacher in FL is being investigated after a parent complaint for showing a Disney film to her 5th graders. She had sent home a permission slip at the beginning of the year for showing PG rated movies, and the students all had permission from their parents.  This is the movie and the description from Disney's website.

It’s a sweet movie. Anyone who finds this inappropriate think that way because they believe gay people should only exist in secret. Only heterosexuals can have crushes in public the public eye apparently.
One day, these bigots will be the ones marginalized. Everyone is over their stupid shit already.

I’ve never seen the movie, but based off the description it seems fine. What is the parent complaining about & why would they sign the permission slip if they weren’t actually okay with it? People are too busy looking for things to be offended by or complain about. This is part of the reason why there’s a teacher shortage

I’ve seen the movie and see absolutely nothing wrong with it. The main character has a crush on his friend. It’s not a main plot point, but it is there and talked about openly and in an encouraging way between the father and son

Considering the literacy and overall education rates have dropped i think schools/teachers should focus on academics not on watching movies.

I’ve seen this movie several times. I read about the dispute in FL, but I still cannot understand what is inappropriate for 5th graders? Nearly every single Disney movie has a love interest. This one doesn’t even have romance as part of the main storyline 🤷🏻‍♀️ People are so crazy
