How would you feel if your boyfriend wanted to reach out to his ex to "Give her closer"

My boyfriend was with this girl several years ago who had gotten out of an abusive relationship. He dated her and her ex husband found out and tracked him down when he was walking home from a store and attacked him. He stabbed my boyfriend multiple times and he cut his face so that his ex "Wouldn't think he's so hot anymore." My boyfriend has a giant scar on his face and this man just wanted to gut him and probably would have had someone not helped. His girlfriend broke up with him because even though her ex got arrested she didn't want anymore men hurr because of her. My boyfriend and I ran into her sister and she asked how he was doing and he said fine and he asked how she's doing and how his ex is doing and she said she has her days and she hasn't dated anyone since my boyfriend because she's haunted by the guilt and blames herself. My boyfriend asked me today if I would mind if he reached out to her to give her some closer and tell her she doesn't have to feel guilty, his life is fine, and she can move on. I kind of lost it and started questioning on why he would even want to talk to her. He said I didn't have to get like that and it was a question but what guy would even THINK to message an ex? Let alone ask his plenty of times cheated on girlfriend? Am I crazy?
