What makes a sibling??

Just curious what most people would class as a brother or sister

Do you specify if your only half or step siblings or do you just class them as your brother or sister no matter what?

Does it depend which parent the child comes from or how often you see them or whether you just like them?

I think it’s more about relationships than anything else. 
I only have full blood siblings, but I have full, adopted, and step cousins. Some I consider family, some I don’t. It has very little to do with who I am blood related to.

Think depends on relationships.. if you grow up with them or are raised with contact and get on well… if a parent had a kid you never saw or just didn’t like, might say technically half sibling or just my mum/ dad has a son/daughter but not refer to them as brother or sister

I refer to all of my siblings as my brothers and sisters. We do not say half, or step. We all have the same father, a couple of us with different mothers. We are all close, it’s a very close family.

My husbands mom had 4 daughters (youngest is 10 years older than my husband). She then had my BIL and husband with a different guy than the girls. 
His dad has an older son and some daughters with other people. 
The 4 older sisters are my husbands sisters, no questions asked his brother too. The older son from his dad is a brother but the other girls I couldn’t even tell you their names or how many there are. So not considered family. I hope that make sense. If anyone said something about half siblings about his sisters I think he would flip. 
Now, I had a son with someone before getting with my husband (he was a horrible person) and my husband has been his dad his entire life, we then had two more boys. If my husband felt our oldest wasn’t his as much as our other two I’m not sure it would work and there is nothing half about my kids. 
Now the dumbass I was with may have had kids with someone else I have no idea, but those wouldn’t be considered siblings since we literally have no idea who they are or if they are.
This is just MY OPINION.

For me it doesn’t matter. Step, half, full. They are all siblings. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother. My brother is full blood related and my sisters are step. But I just call them my sisters.

I have 2 full siblings and 2 half siblings, 1 of which i unfortunately have never met but my other half sister is just my sister. Doesn’t matter if she came from my mum or my dad. She’s my sister.
