No poo for over 24hrs. Pedi thinks it’s ok
Hi everyone,
my DD is a little over two weeks old. I have been exclusively breastfeeding my child since we left the hospital (hospital gave her formula while I was sleeping) and the amount of poos she’s had has been rapidly decreasing. I called my pediatrician so I could get her weighed and check for a hard stomach (I can’t tell if it’s hard) and she assured me that it’s normal for breastfed babies to go 7 days without a bowel movement. This is the first time I’ve heard this cause everything I’ve read tells me breastfeeding is like a laxative and newborns as young as my daughter should be having 3ish movements a day.
I guess I just wanted reassurance that there’s other breastfed babies that have an early decrease in bowel movements. She’s been straining a lot but my pedi thinks it’s fine so not sure what to do. Any thoughts are appreciated.
