Is it normal to be scared of marriage?

My boyfriend (28) is really perfect in my (23) eyes. I always wanted to marry early. We have been together for some time and are moving in together soon. We discussed the timeline. It's genuinly what I always wanted. But when he said out loud "Who knows, maybe at this time next year there will be a ring on this cute finger", i automatically started to panic?? As crazy as it might sound, i was already engaged before but ex cheated and got abusive so I left. Im guessing it's because of that. I'm just confused because I genuinly love him and want to be with him and marriage is what I always wanted, so why am I scared?

I think any major life change can come with that feeling. Ive had it with any major move, getting married, getting pregnant etc....it's exciting yet overwhelming and a big commitment.

Absolutely. I was nervous and so was my husband because it a big commitment. My husband was worried because his parents got divorce when he as a baby and was afraid that could happen. I just said to him “I can’t predict the future.” However, I also gave his an ultimatum we were together for 6 yrs at that time and if we didn’t plan on getting married then I was gone. We have been married for 3 yrs.

Yes, it’s completely normal to be nervous because you’ve been hurt in the past. However, don’t let that other guy ruin what could be a beautiful marriage. Before considering marriage you need to be sure to address any concerns or red flags to see if they are deal breakers. Marriage is great as long as you go into it with the right mindset (this is a lifetime commitment), you have a foundation (God), and you are willing to work through issues/disagreements (support, don’t criticize/argue respectfully-attack the problem and not the person).

You're probably scared because you've hurt yourself before. 
Talk about it. Go to therapy to deal with your wounds if necessary. Couples counseling can help you two deal with potential issues before they become and issue. And if you need things to go a bit more slow, then take it more slow.

I'm 24 and sometimes marriage may look difficult . Helping each other makes it better . I got married at 19  we meet when I was 16 and now we are happy  . It's okay to be scared , I'm sure that this scare will go away with time

You wouldn’t be human in my view if you didn’t feel remotely nervous or scared. It’s a natural feeling to have especially after your prior horrible relationship. 
Don’t think too hard on it now because it’ll cause you severe anxiety and panic attacks for a question he hasn’t even asked you yet. He just said there might be a possibility. If and/or when the time comes, you’ll know without a doubt your response whether yes or no.
