Am i unreasonable or is the doctor

Ok so my childrens pediatrician will literally not give ANY type of medical advice period over the phone. No suggestions NOTHING. Just a few for instances. When my daughter was 6months old i called to see what dose of tylenol to give her (she had just been in and been weighed days before) they said sorry we wont tell you over the phone you have to come in. Then today i called and simply asked for their suggestion to help prevent an ear infection in.my daughter who has a cold. Once again. You MUST come in for any answers. So my question is is this common practice with your pediatricians or am i simply asking too much?
