EBF mamas, what’s been your baby weaning experience?
My baby is 19months old, and she still really wants breast milk and I’d say it makes up around 80% of her food intake. I have been trying really hard to make her eat other things since she was 6months, but it always consisted of her throwing it on the floor or spitting it out.
Throughout the night she still nurses a lot (every 2 hrs or basically whenever she changes positions), which I completely understand means she won’t be inclined to eat in the morning because she’s full from all that milk, however if I do not nurse her, she WILL wake up and not go back to sleep for an hour or two, and it ISN’T practical to wake up at 1am or 2am or then again at 3 or 4am etc
Whenever she eats her solids, it’s very very few. She is fine with snacks eg Ella’s kitchen or Organics rice cakes, pea puffs - all those items you buy in a packet. She’ll eat a couple of bites of durum wheat pasta I’ve mixed some butter and Ella’s veggie or meaty pouches and grated cheese, half-1 banana, couple of strawberries, couple of boiled carrot sticks, a bit of buttered toast and Babybel or grated cheese, little bits of avocado. But chicken 🍗 if she does eat, she chews and spits out or gags/chokes on it, and I’m struggling with getting her to eat properly/3 meals a day. I’ve made Turkey and avocado burgers (made from scratch by me which I’ve frozen for convenience to just heat up easily without it going off if it’s always fresh mince), tried pre-made meals by Little Dish, Anna Karmel, Ella’s etc. Always seeing on YouTube how everyone’s baby is eating quite large meals frequently, but I’m thinking maybe a lot of those children/babies were formula/mixed fed babies?
I’ve allowed her to explore herself and give her the spoon/items. She just wants to feed me instead, or throw on the floor
I was hoping this is all normal for an EBF baby- has anyone else experienced this?
She likes boiled eggs but we’ve had to stop because it makes her too hot and she ended up itching herself all over her body.
