What pump for combination feeding?

I plan on primarily breastfeeding my baby, but I would like my husband to be able to bottle feed expressed milk at night so I can get more sleep. Do I need to dish out a couple hundred bucks on an electric pump for this, or will a manual pump be enough? Is there a particular pump that worked well for you?

To answer your original question, a manual pump might be fine, but you won’t know until you try.
I personally don’t respond well to my hand pump, I get much more output (and in less time!) with my Spectra. If you’re in the US check with your insurance, you’re probably eligible for a free pump.
I know people though who only had a hand pump and did great with it though. There’s no way to know for sure!
Make sure that you measure your nipples correctly to get the right size flange.
It’s recommended not to pump on top of nursing sessions for the first 6 weeks (by that I mean, don’t pump between feeds, only pump to replace a feed).

I exclusively pumped for 12 months with manual pumps. The lansinoh manual is great. You'll need to the correct flange size insert for them. I always hear horror stories about clogged ducts and all that but I never had that issue using a manual pump.

Any pump will work honestly as long as the flange is the right size for your nipple. I personally like hand pumps, I can stop and adjust and go at my own speed. My hand pump is Philips brand and it works really well but I’ve also tried the lansinoh one which got the job done. I have the paruu also, I got off of Amazon which is electric hands free that works alright, battery life kind of sucks. I also have the TOVVILD That I use the most. It was trial and error for me. This is not how it works. If you have baby get a bottle you will HAVE to pump in replace of that missed nursing session. If you don’t your supply will decrease. So really it doesn’t save any time at all and you don’t get more sleep. You’re better off just nursing baby.
