Allergic to dogs?? Can it go away?

I just adopted a dog a couple of days ago and me and my daughter are extremely allergic to him 😭😭 I’m taking Zyrtec since the allergies started but I don’t want to take it everyday is there anything else I can take? We really want to try everything to get these allergies under control because they’re horrible I can’t breathe good I think I’m also developing asthma I have to take deep breaths 😩

Allergy shots but if you’re not breathing well you’ll need to give the dog back as that’s super bad for your own health. Has he been given baths?

There are specialty foods for dogs and cats that help reduce allergic reactions to their dander. You'd have to keep the dog on it consistently and it takes about a month for it to work. BUT if there's something else that's triggering your allergies then I'm not sure what to do other than rehome him. It wouldn't be fair to either side to suffer like that. Especially since there can be side effects to taking allergy meds long term. I'm on them for my cold allergy and i need to have blood work done every few months to make sure there's no problem with my organs.

I know for cats they have a food you can give them to lessen the allergens in their fur thus not affecting your allergies {obviously depending how severe your allergy is} Maybe see if they have something like that for dogs too?
