Should i propose?

My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and 8 months. I have 2 kids with my last partner, which was very abusive and not healthy. We have talked about marriage and kids and he wants to do both just doesn't want a huge wedding, would rather get the marrage certificate and be done with it. I would like something very small and then a big honeymoon. He wants a baby before 30 which is understandable i would like to have just 1 more. But i definitely want to be married this.time around. So ive thought about asking him to marry and we will figure out how we both want to do the marriage next year AnAnopinions or questions are welcome :)
